Australian Home Grown CSP Technologies

Australia has tremendous strengths on concentrating solar power that it can build into a globally-competitive sunrise industry for the 21st Century. We'll have a look at a few of them below:

At present, the CSIRO in Newcastle is developing solar towers (pictured above), while the ANU is actively-developing solar dish technology. Australia's Enviromission is developing solar chimneys and Solar Systems is developing concentrating solar photovoltaics. Other companies, such as Acquasol, are bringing European-developed parabolic trough technology and coupling it with desalination to create hybrid applications to meet two of Australia's pressing needs simultaneously: power and water.

With sunshine, abundant flat land located in interior areas without alot of competing uses, Australia is very well positioned to become a world leader in solar thermal power.
